Networking

Computer networks from ISPs to Enterprise to Wi-Fi and cellular networks are a key part of the information economy. They form the backbone of all industries across all segments, across the globe. These networks are the foundation for the Web, and they enable companies such as Google, Facebook and Amazon. Perhaps the biggest role of computer networks is to increase a business's overall level of efficiency.
Design strategies, along with bandwidth allocation, routing, internet working, reliability, quality of service, naming, content delivery, and security are important aspects of all networks. A detailed understanding of widely-used networking technologies such as TCP/IP, HTTP, 802.11, Ethernet, and DNS is of prime importance.
Enterprise employees are more mobile than ever, and the role of Wi-Fi is growing in the corporate network. Despite the praise for Wi-Fi, the survey found that a third of firms have struggled to implement an effective and secure wireless service. Just under a third (31%) considered scrapping having a wireless network after suffering unreliable connectivity, and 33% feared that having a Wi-Fi network could invite as security breach. The survey also unveiled a lack of knowledge around the implementation of Wi-Fi networks within existing IT infrastructure.
